If I were to be told 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago, that art would be a significant factor in my life, I would have laughed. Although I grew up in an atmosphere that was very indulgent in the arts, having family members who were artists and musicians, I never had the desire to try my hand at it. Long story short, after two college degrees, I found myself in a position that I think many people experience. I hadn't found my "niche" in the world. Thankfully, I found painting, specifically in the oil medium, and I will never forget the feeling of euphoria that I experienced after completing my first piece.
In all of my pieces, I paint to convey very real, static feelings, albeit fleeting. I don't think my paintings follow a certain ideal or focus, because in each, I was drawn to the subject for a different reason. For instance in "Expired", I was captivated, each morning as I drove to work, by the storefront and man who religiously sat in front of it, because it conveyed to me the idea of something or someone being used up and discarded.
