Welcome to Yvette H. Miller's Portfolio.
Borne in the USA, I lived in Canada since the age of two. My early childhood years in the rural countryside of Lynn Valley, Ontario and my summers spent at my grandparent's farm, forged a strong bond with nature, I still cherish. My grandmother,(my best friend) always had time and patience for my exploring questions. She introduced and explained and my eyes and mind soaked in the shades,lights,shapes,forms,the scents, the vibrations and most importantly the magical colours the seasons offered. At this young age, I learned the art to not only see, but to observe. Watching my mother sketch and paint the landscape around me and with her encouragement and guidance, I started reflecting unto canvass my view of the countryside, at the eager age of nine. Setting a fast pace,the Art Schools I found tediously slow and they all emphasised certain media or style. I chose to learn, develop the character and style of my own. By my late teen-years I have entered many Group Shows on an amateur level. Encouraged by success, family and peers, turned professional in my mid twenties.I find oil the best media to work with. ... |
