"Red Grooms, The Bookstore and the Late Seventies"
1999-07-16 until 1999-09-19
Hudson River Museum
Yonkers, NY, USA United States of America

The Museum celebrates the 20th anniversary of Red Grooms' The Bookstore with a selection of work created by the artist immediately before and after this commission. The late seventies were frenetically productive times for the internationally acclaimed Pop artist, and right in the middle was his imaginative and humorous work at The Hudson River Museum. Public and private commissions, prints, films and set designs were all part of the artist's oeuvre, a body of work, at this time. The exhibit includes examples of these works, many coming from the artist's own collection, as well as preparatory sketches and period photographs of The Bookstore.
