"No More Lofts Rally"
1999-08-09 until 1999-08-09
Coalition for Jobs, Arts & Housing
San Francisco, CA, USA United States of America

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is voting Monday on a moratorium on loft construction in SDan Francisco's industrial areas. New Live/Work Lofts are $400,000 condos, not workspaces for artists as originally intended by the Artists' Live/Work Law. Lofts are pushing jobs, artists and businesses out of the City, and they have cost the City millions of dollars in lost fees (see the Condos in Disguise article on the SF Examiner's front page 8/4/99). Developers will pack City Hall w/ construction workers - The Rally will demonstrate to Supervisors that voters care about this issue. The Coalition for Jobs, Arts & Housing is working with California Lawyers for the Arts to organize The Rally in support of the live/work loft moratorium in San Francisco. This is a crucial issue for the arts community. The Rally will take place Monday, August 9, 12:00 pm. on the steps of San Francisco City Hall. Artists, workers, small business owners, concerned neighbors are invited to come out and support.
