"THE SPIRIT OF BURMA"
1999-08-20 until 1999-09-05
Thavibu Gallery
Sukhumvit, , TH Thailand

A group exhibition by the Burmese artists: U Lun Gywe, Myint Swe, U Hla Han, U Min Kyi and U Khin Swe. This is a rare opportunity to view contemporary Burmese paintings outside Burma. Burmese contemporary art is rather traditional in expression, though many paintings may be interpreted at different levels. Several of the artists excel in the use of colours. U Lun Gywe is an 'old master' and teacher (acharn) who was formally the Principal of the State School of Fine Arts in Rangoon. He has participated in several international exhibitions, including USA, Singapore and Japan. Myint Swe is a promising young artist, and the leader of the Vision Art Group. He has held more than 40 exhibitions in Burma and also a solo exhibition at Thavibu Gallery
