Sept.
Conference and exhibitions programme devoted to the work and life of Kurt
Schwitters is being organised in the Lake District region of England, from
17th
to 19th September 1999. International artists, scholars and curators will
meet
to discuss the Merzbarn project and its critical legacy. The Merzbarn
project
was carried out by Schwitters in 1947 in a disused farm barn in Cumbria,
and is
now widely regarded as one of the most important art works of the late
twentieth century.
