"Call for Submissions: Thirty-Sixth Juried Exhibition"

The Parrish Art Museum will present the pre-eminent juried show of the region, the 36th Juried Exhibition, from November 21, 1999 through January 9, 2000. Open to all artists, the Juried Exhibition will be judged by halley k. harrisburg, art dealer and Director, Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, New York, art critic Carey Lovelace and collector E. Thomas Williams, Jr. A single cash prize of $5000, underwritten by Barbara White Fishman, will be awarded to the work voted Best in Show by jurors.

The show is open to works in two-and three-dimensions, including painting, sculpture, works on paper including photographs, collage, video art and mixed media. Works should not exceed 60 inches in height, width or depth, and should have been executed within the past four years, and not previously submitted to a juried exhibition held at The Parrish Art Museum.

How to Enter

Artists are requested to submit up to four works for consideration. Submissions must be accompanied by the application form below with the title, medium and dimensions of each work listed. For all works, other than video art, only 35mm slides will be accepted.

Artists wishing their material to be returned must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their application. Slides and videos are to be labeled with the artists name and the corresponding number from the application. Slides should be listed in the order in which they are to be viewed. Please indicate the proper slide position by placing a red dot on the upper right corner of each slide. All materials should be sent by mail to the attention of the Curatorial Department, The Parrish Art Museum, 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, New York, 11968, and must arrive no later than September 24, 1999.

No late applications can be accepted.

Fees

Each application must be accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee of $40.00, which covers up to four works submitted. The fee should be made payable by check or money order to The Parrish Art Museum.

Receiving

Notification of works accepted or not accepted will be by mail after October 22, 1999. Selected artists will be responsible for delivering their work to the Museum and collecting it at the end of the exhibition. It is requested that works be appropriately framed and glazed with Plexiglas or glass, wired and ready for hanging. Paintings are not required to be glazed. Work accepted for the exhibition must be hand-delivered, with all wrapping removed, on Friday, November 12 from 10am to 4pm or Saturday, November 13 from 10am to 2pm. All works must be clearly labeled with the artists name and title of the work on the upper right verso of the piece. Art work will not be insured by The Parrish Art Museum, but all reasonable care will be taken.

Sales

Works may be offered for sale. No commission will be charged.

Awards

A single cash prize of $5000, underwritten by Barbara White Fishman, will be awarded to the work voted Best in Show by jurors.
