"Costume and Character in the Age of Ingres"
1999-09-09 until 1999-11-21
Metropolitan Museum of Art
New York, NY, USA United States of America

Complementing Portraits by Ingres: Image of an Epoch, which opens at the Metropolitan Museum on October 5, 1999, this Costume Institute exhibition displays an opulent array of 19th-century fashion and finery. Special delights include the opportunity to see what lay beneath those luxurious fabrics and folds, so meticulously rendered by Ingres, and a review of mens dress of the period. The exhibition is made possible by Yves Saint Laurent.
