The Carter Downtown will open September 18, 1999, to allow patrons to view
samples of the exceptional exhibitions of American art they have come to expect
from the Carter.
With 2,700 square feet of space, the Carter Downtown will display
approximately 30 works of art at a time. The downtown location will also have a
well-stocked Museum Store and will house expansion information, including
models, architectural renderings, computer-aided design stills, and site elevations,
to keep patrons up-to-date with the expansion.
The Carter Downtown will be open Tuesday through Sunday, with extended
evening hours on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It will be closed on Monday
and major holidays. Admission will be free.
Located at 500 Commerce Street, the Carter Downtown is across the street from
Bass Hall, next to The Grape Escape.
