"Barry Markowitz: New Work"
1999-10-02 until 1999-10-30
Eagle Rock Community Cultural Center
Los Angeles, CA, USA United States of America

The Eagle Rock Community Cultural Center is proud to announce an exhibition of new work by artist Barry Markowitz. Mr. Markowitz has been a Los Angeles based artist for 30 years and received a J. Paul Getty Fund Grant for Painting in 1996. His paintings and sculptures are produced with structural materials such as wood, glue, and tiles. These create a domestic core upon which his images are built. The combination of the materials, the use of repetitive shapes, and the addition of portraits, often literally ingrained into the surface of the work, signify memory and loosely structured narratives - fabricated mysteries which cannot be solved.
