Reliquaries of a disappearing age made by 12 material artists occupy a brief
window of nostalgia at the end of the century. Engraved milk bottles,
typewriter jewellery, MSG tins, memory perfumes and lost phrases are among
the souvenirs on display. A soundtrack features disappearing sounds.
Visitors contribute to a book on how to stay human in a faceless age. They
are invited to reflect on the effects of economic rationalism on the public
good.
The artists are Roseanne Bartley, Lisa Carroll, Susan Cohn, Karen Ferguson,
Tony Hanning, Hamish Hill, Ruth Hutchinson, Sharon Muir, Miyuki Nakahara,
Humphrey Poland, David Ray, Alex Selenitsch. The curator is Kevin Murray.
