"International TOOT Festival 1999"
1999-10-21 until 1999-10-28
Hull Time Based Arts
Hull, , UK United Kingdom

TOOT is concerned with those edges of art that cross or contradict accepted notions of music, investigating the relation between the sound, the listener and the site. Hull Time Based Arts expands it's concerns with the time based, the happening now, by proposing that nothing that is temporal can be silent. Over 36 hours of live performance, recordings, broadcast, screenings, discussions and events TOOT is a programme of aurality and visuality.

TOOT brings together an apparently disparate collection of artists and musicians working in a multiplicity of forms. The experience of such workmay be emotional, physical or intellectual. We question what it is to be out of tune- to be discordant, experimental, critical, out of line, and off the rails.

TOOT - Totally Out Of Tune! takes place over the weekend of the 21st October, in a number of venues in Hull, focusing at TimeBase. The programme runs over four days, with time to visit site works, attend screenings and talks and to participate in live and club events.

TOOT works are situated in easy to locate sites around the city. TOOT challenges the artists to work outside the traditional gallery, grabbing the publics attention, and giving us the opportunity to access new art in a variety of places. - check on arrival for details of programme.

Hull Time Based Arts is an artist run initiative on a tight budget but each year our programme grows! ROOT is a good chance for serious and social exchange, good art, good contacts and we are happy to host 'sub -meetings'. Just let us know and we can publicise your presence! We cannot offer funding but if you want a formal letter of invite to raise travel funding we are happy to help. Come to Hull and contribute!
