More than 50 Queensland business leaders will tonight explore opportunities to build long-lasting partnerships
with cultural organisations.
The business leaders' forum in Brisbane will demonstrate that investing in the arts makes good business sense.
'The Federal Government is determined to see stronger links develop between government, business and the arts
community,' Federal Minister for the Arts, Peter McGauran, said.
'Business and cultural organisations have told Government that greater knowledge and more skills are needed to
develop arts sponsorships and partnerships,' he said.
Two new business tools, developed by the Australia Foundation for Culture and the Humanities, will be unveiled
at the forum. The Business Case for Cultural Investment Guide and the Cultural Products Menu - an Internet
search tool that makes it easier for business to find cultural products that fit their corporate needs.
The forum follows the first in a series of workshops for Australia's cultural organisations to identify and develop
best practice techniques for successful arts/business partnerships.
Sixteen Queensland-based arts organisations, including the Queensland Museum, Rock 'n' Roll Circus and the
Queensland Writers' Centre, are taking part in the one and a half day workshop to identify how partnerships with
business can benefit both sectors.
The Brisbane workshop is the first in a national program, which will be extended to Sydney and Adelaide this
year and to other capital cities early next year.
The program is a joint initiative of the Australia Foundation and the Australia Council.
