"MANUSCRIPT EXHIBITION"

MANUSCRIPT EXHIBITION, conceptualised and co-ordinated
(virtually exclusively via e-mail & the internet) by Anna Varney - visual
artist, graphic designer and writer.
The inspiration for this initiative was not entirely motivated by the
dictionary definition of 'manuscript'; (book, document, state of being)
written by hand or typed, not printed: author's copy in this form, submitted
for publication). The MANUSCRIPT EXHIBITION is: diverse, creative,
subjective, historical, fetishist, documentary, tactile collections of
artists/ poets/, writers and performers.
Over forty works have been submitted, including those by:
Willem Boshoff (multimedia, sculpture, art lecturer),
Arja Salafranca (poet, journalist),
Jenny Stadler (artist, lecturer),
Allan Kolski Horwitz (poet, poetry performer, writer, publisher, singer),
Roy Blumenthal (performance poet, publisher),
The Botsotso Jesters (performance poets),
Wilma Cruise (artist),
In keeping with the interactive, hands-on nature afforded by the MANUSCRIPT
EXHIBITION, book-binding and poetry workshops have been arranged to be held
on 1 and 3 December 1999 respectively.
