"Changes of View and Close-Up - Women Artists in Austria"
1999-11-18 until 2000-04-24
Historical Museum of Vienna
Vienna, , AT Austria

The emphasis of the exhibition lies with paintings from the 19th and first half of the 20th century. On view are works from genres such as portraiture, interiors, landscapes and cityscapes. Among the works are also a few very rare examples of self-portraiture by women artists. This conception is not representing a stereotypical representation of the female body. It reflects much more the hinderances for expression that women artists had to endure during the time of the forbidden figure.
