"Artist-in-Research: John Latham"
0000-00-00 until 0000-00-00
Institute of International Visual Arts (inIVA)
London, , UK United Kingdom

The distinguished artist John Latham begins a three-month assignment at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences. Since the 1950s Latham’s practice has focused on time and event rather than space and matter, and he has developed a theory of the cosmos as 'event-structured'. By thinking of the universe in terms of time and event rather than objects in space, emphasis is placed on process rather than product.

O+I are an international organisation who create circumstances for establishing the new role and function of artists in decision-making; through associations with governments, private sector organisations and academic institutions. The Isaac Newton Institute is devoted to the study of mathematical sciences and organises research programmes in which ideas and expertise are exchanged and catalysed through lectures, seminars and informal interaction.
