"ABSTRACT TECHNOLOGY"
2000-01-07 until 2000-02-18
Forest City Gallery
London, ON, CA Canada

The artists in this show explore the historical impact of various materials that have been electronically altered and presented as truth.

Mark Grady distorts history by digitally deleting various historical figures and placing an image of himself in its place. Grady uses World War II photos and historical paintings to re-invent the context and reliability of the images in his own work and in the original document.

Dariuz Boron uses the technology of the bar code reader as a tool totranslate and change the significance of information. Viewers are asked to use a bar code reader to reveal information stored within the lines. The standard use of a bar code is to record how much something costs, track a parcel shipment or as in the case of a library card it stores the history of the user. The bar code is used in this show to translate the Art itself.
