"Pregnant Women Series"
2000-01-14 until 2000-02-02
David Scott Gallery
Toronto, ON,
CA Canada
Poignant and personal, this series of pinhole photographs
began with a phone call from a stranger. In 1989, Willie
Anne Wright was contacted by a pregnant woman looking
for a different type of portrait to document her
pregnancy. It soon became apparent that the pinhole
camera, with its long exposure time and intrinsic magical
qualities, was the ideal tool to record the miraculous and
transient state of pregnancy. The images presented in this
exhibition are from Wright's cumulative body of work on
pregnant women.
