Contemporary Plein Air Masters from the US and beyond are invited to capture the beauty of Palm Springs desert paradise onto canvas. Top plein air painters will paint scenes from the snow-covered forest of Mt San Jacinto to the Coachella Valley and canyon in between.
Plein air is French meaning in the full air, includes landscape and slice of life scenes that are painted on location. Deborah Chapin has been selected for his/her unique style of painitng. Deborah Chapin first began exhibiting in November of 1982 at the Grand Central Galleries in New York. Since that time Ms. Chapins works have been included in more than 40 major Museum and Gallery exhibits including the
Louvre, Grand Palais in Paris; RJ Schaffer Museum; Colorado Historical
Museum; National Arts Club; the Audubon and American Embassies
world wide. Her works have been acquired by the CEOs of major
corporations such as the John Nuveen Company, Federal Reserve Bank,
Jewett Inc., Pardoe Properties among others. She has been a leader in the plein-air painting genre and recently founded the Professional Plein-air Painters group.
The week of events will culminate with a Grand Gala Unveiling of Friday January 28 at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort. Best of Show, Award of Excellence and the 2001 Poster Artist will be announced that evening.
Artists donate 20% of their sales to the Foundations Educational Outreach and Visual Arts Scholarship program serving the entire Coachella Valley. La Qunta Arts Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing educational art and cultural opportunities for children, youth and adults.
