A group exhibition reviewing 1999 solo exhibitions.  Featuring the works of He Sen, Qing Qing, Su Xinping, Zhang Yajie, Liu Qinghe, Liu Manwen, Sheng Qi, Tan Ping, and other Red Gate artists.

Since 1991 Red Gate Gallery has been exhibiting work by outstanding contemporary Chinese artists. With 20 artists represented, the diverse media reflects the artists‚ awareness and interest in China‚s changing society. As records of their observations on daily life, artists are exploring issues such as gender, population (family planning), and the environment, all highly relevant in our global society. Through traditional Chinese painting, collage, lithography and oil painting Red Gate‚s artists are supplying a social commentary on the political, economical and cultural transformations within contemporary Chinese society. Oil/Acrylic painters include: Su Xinping, Zhang Yajie, He Sen, Liu Manwen, Guan Wei, Qin Yifeng, Liu Yi, Li Shan, and Qi Zhilong. Installation and sculpture: Qing Qing, Sui Jianguo, and Li Gang. Performance Artists: Sheng Qi and Qing Qing. Printmakers: Su Xinping, Tan Ping, Zhou Jirong, and Wang Huaxiang. Mixed Media: Zheng Xuewu, Wang Lifeng, and Liu Yan. Traditional Chinese Painting: Liu Qinghe.
