"Willem de Kooning: In Process"
2000-01-28 until 2000-03-28
Menil Collection
Houston, TX,
USA United States of America
The Menil Collection is presenting an exhibition of
works by the American abstraction expressionist
artist Willem de Kooning (1904—1997) that
explores some of the many procedures underlying
the artist’s work and focuses on his shifts from
painting to drawing and drawing to painting. Into
the late 1980s when de Kooning stopped working
because of ill health, he regularly re-used and
recycled his art works through various means of
tracing and transferal.
Willem de Kooning: In Process, consisting of
twenty paintings and eight drawings created
between 1968 and 1988, was organized by The
Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale. The show is
curated by the noted art historian Klaus Kertess.
