"GRANTS FOR WOMEN & NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS"
0000-00-00 until 0000-00-00
THE GRANT LADY
New York, NY, USA United States of America

Since 1983, Shakurra Amatulla, as The Grant Lady, has been demonstrating to women and nonprofit organizations, creative ways to reach financial self-empowerment through her national grants newsletter, For Us Women Newsletter (FUWN). Shakurra continues the tradition when she recently moved FUWN onto the Internet at http://www.grantlady.com.

Shakurra's love for grants research began in the 1980s when she, as a single mother of four children, sought grants to help pay for a huge gas bill. She found not only a writers' group who assisted her with the bill, but also hundreds of other grants virtually ignored by the general public.

To me, a grant equals an opportunity, says Shakurra, a playwright and performing artist who operates For Us Publications from her New York City home office. A grant can be an opportunity to jump-start a woman's career, subsidize her own business, provide economic relief for a struggling nonprofit organization, or just another way to raise one's self-esteem.

The Grant Lady diligently researches both the national and international grant vastland. In past issues she has highlighted not only grants for women artist, educational grants and the like, but also grants for older women, cultural grants (such as for Irish-Americans, African-Americans, Asians, etc.), as well as the obscure grants, such as the ones for thoroughbred racers, bowlers, psychics . . . even pork lovers! Grants range from $50 to $1million. Shakurra takes pains to locate grants which specifically meet her subscribers' needs. People are constantly shocked and amazed about the diverse types of grants I uncover, says Shakurra. Which goes to prove that for every dream or goal you may have, there's either a grant or a number of funding resources out there for you to realize those dreams. Shakurra also stresses that her website is not limited to just women. I also feature general grants which can be applied for by anyone, says the proud grandmother of four grandsons.

The Grant Lady's website offers a free sampling of grants, free how-to articles on grant research and offers affordable personal consulting packages. For Us Women Newsletter subscription price is $25 for 12 Internet issues and is available at http://www.grantlady.com.
