BRIDGING THE GAP is an exhibition of modern paintings, challenging the perceptions of the
religious and secular minds in relation to Christianity and art by Cornelis
Monsma.
The exhibition is running from March 4--March 25. OPEN; Mon. - Sat. 3.00 p.m. - 9.00 p.m. at 27 RIFLE RANGE rd. VISUAL BUILDING HAMILTON New Zealand
Christian art, painted in a contemporary expressionist/realist style is
sometimes difficult to comprehend for both the religious and secular minds.
The painter tries by expressing his faith in composition and colour, to
bridge the gap between abstract and realism and bringing Christian
contemporary art into the religious and secular experience. Many wellknown
and familiar scripture passages are expressed in an unusual and intriging
way, testing the viewer's acceptance, imagination and ability to adjust.
Stirring abundant colours and a mix of different approaches in compositions
merge together with the Logos, Word, component and shows that style is only a
tool in conveying the underlaying message indicating that Christian art can
function both ways when placed in a contemporary setting.
Christian art without a religious aftertaste.
