"LECTURE BY DR EDDIE CHAMBERS (UK)"
2000-03-14 until 0000-00-00
ARTSPACE
Woolloomooloo, , AU Australia

This lecture with slides will look at issues and examples of how some Black artists in England have contributed to debates about history, identity and nationality in England over the past decade and a half. The period begins with the coming of age of young Black Britain in the mid to late 1970s and charts its development, through the work of visual artists, up to the present.

Eddie Chambers is an artist, curator, arts administrator, critic and writer based in Bristol. In 1989 he established the African and Asian Visual Artists' Archive (AAVAA) and was its co-ordinator until 1992. In 1998 he was awarded a PhD from Goldsmiths College, University of London.

Eddie Chambers' visit to Australia is supported by The British Council.
