2000-03-18 until 2000-06-23
MICHAEL C.CARLOS MUSEUM
Atlanta, GA, USA United States of America

Five works on paper by Karel Appel a member of Cobra (a post-World War II group of artists from Copenhange, Brussels and Amsterdam) will be on view in the Works on Paper Study Room, located in the First Floor Galleries.

In Appel s 1970s work he continued to use his favored childlike motifs masks, faces, animals but he adopted a new manner of expression using thick parallel strokes of vivid, contrasting colors. They are represented in the five works at the Carlos: Whirling Head, Big Head Coming Down, Tibetan Bird, See Me Running Again and Flying Fish.
