Hagerty wrote this description of what he calls the New New West. There is a New New West now, which includes the legacy of the past, but demands that old conventions make room for fresh ideas. After all, the Old West was once new to those artists who ventured out onto the prairies in the early 19th century. Today, artists navigate the matrix of the new century's social shifts with quiet introspection or raucous energy, their work a kaleidoscope of imagery, results of experimentation, urgency and soul serching. Keep an open mind when looking at the art in New Art of the West 7. There is a presence here that transcends the facts. Ponder and reflect on these emotional enterprises, for this is the New New West. Each artists is exhibiting 3 works of art. All the work is for sale and the museum takes a 30% commission from all sales. The proceeds are used to purchase works of art from the artists at the the end of the exhibition. During New Art of the West 6 over $80,000.00 in art work was sold and twelve pieces were added to the collection either through purchases or as gifts from patrons.
