"Deborah Willis: Tied to Memory"

Willis textile works address traditions of African-American quilts, black photographic archives, and ongoing fiber traditions. This exhibition will also feature her new photographic work. Artist Deborah Willis is also curator at the Smithsonian Institutions Center for African-American History and Culture. As an artist in residence at the Kemper Museum, Willis will work with junior-high and high school students for two days prior to her exhibition.
