"OTHER VIEWS"
2000-05-13 until 2000-07-14
Fort Worth International Center
Fort Worth, TX, USA United States of America

The Fort Worth International Center will present an exhibition combining photography and printmaking by three local artists whose art work is influenced by their international experience from May 13 - July 14, 2000. Showcasing three unique perspectives, OTHER VIEWS will serve as an introduction to the work of Christopher Blay, Simeen Muneer Ishaque, and Monte Martin. OTHER VIEWS is organized by Rachel Bounds, volunteer curator for the International Center, with the cooperation of the City of Fort Worth and other organizations through their support of the International Center.

THE ARTISTS

Monte Martin, while new to our area, has exhibited his world travel orientated photography throughout the Midwest. The view and presentation is conceptual and intriguing. Martin is the manager of the Arlington Art Museum.

Born in Liberia, Christopher Blay moved to the United States in 1986. Through the lens of a Diane camera, Blay explores the beauty of the city in its simplest forms. His photographs have been exhibited locally.

Born in Pakistan, Simeen Muneer Ishaque has successfully pursued education and exhibitions throughout the southwest. Her rich layered images expressed in printmaking combine ancient and contemporary concerns.

THE EXHIBITION

OTHER VIEWS consists of three separate cohesive bodies of work. Martin's approximately 30 black and white photographic works will be featured in the World Affairs Gallery. Blay's 15 black and white images of Fort Worth will be seen in the Connections Gallery. Ishaque's work will be coming directly from her MFA Thesis exhibition at TCU to the Cities and Commerce Gallery.
