CREMASTER 2, the latest installment in Matthew Barney's ongoing series of
cinematic OPERAS, traces the rise and fall of antihero Gary Gilmore - convicted killer
and alleged grandson of Harry Houdini.
Critically hailed as one of the most crucial
artists of his generation, Barney peoples the hallucinatory landscape of his
35-millimeter film and its related installation with bees, bison, heavy-metal drummers,
magicians, mediums, Mounties, two-steppers and much, much more. This will be the
West Coast premiere of the film and full installation.
