2000-05-05 until 2000-08-13
Dallas Museum of Art
Dallas, TX,
USA United States of America
Comprised of a dozen works including paintings,
drawings and prints, this concise, powerful
exhibition offers the first in-depth view of the
most recent work of an acknowledged master of
contemporary art, Jasper Johns. Focusing on the
work of this celebrated artist since his 1997
retrospective, the exhibition explores a variety of
themes, from personal to cosmological.
Incorporating a variety of media including
encaustic, sand, wood, and string, the exhibit
marks another pivotal point in John's
commanding life as one of the most important
figures in the art of the last 50 years.
Organized
by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the
exhibition debuted there and traveled to the
Yale University Art Gallery before its appearance
in Dallas. This presentation marks the first time
the DMA's Tower Gallery, on the Hamon
Building's fourth floor, will be used for a
contemporary art exhibition. Free.
