Indepth Arts News:
"A CALL FOR ART! 3 AMERICAS ...we are all in this together!"
2000-06-04 until 2000-10-15
Visual Arts League
East Brunswick, NJ,
USA United States of America
One hundred artists will define AMERICA as none of us has known it. A
gathering of 100 pieces of art representing faces and/or figures - 42 pieces
from South America, 9 pieces from Central America and 49 from North America
(loosely representing their percentage of the whole population of the
Americas) - will be juxtaposed to make a montage of faces and figures that
will, together, mean AMERICA. We will see the differences, but we will also
see much that we have in common!
Graciously hosted by the University of Medicine and Dentistry - Robert Wood
Johnson Medical School, the March 2001 exhibit is designed to travel, and
hopes to bring a fresh definition of America to all three Americas. (It
already has dates for the Cork Gallery in New York's Lincoln Center, and a
request from a venue in Detroit.)
Proceeds from sales of original art will be sent to the artists. Revenues
from sales of reproductions of the art will be donated to several non-profit
organizations with a heart for the arts and for humanity: ARTFaces|ARTPlaces, Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Centre, Visual Arts League, and
Doctors Without Borders.
