"Deborah Chapin"
2000-06-01 until 2000-06-25
Southern Vermont Arts Center
Manchester, VT, USA United States of America

Inspired by a show of impressionist paintings at the National Gallery, Chapin made six trips to France, painting outdoors to capture the essence of the French countryside. Enraptured by this experience, she carries the pleine air spirit with her to capture coastal scenes and gentle Vermont meadows.

Her work has been in more than 40 major museum and gallery exhibitions, including the Louvre Museum, the National Arts Club, the Salmagundi Club, and American Embassies around the world.

She studied with pioneering Vermont serigraph artist Harry Shokler and with Mary Ekroos. Recently she took a master class at the National Academy taught by Raymond Kinstler. Chapin has hosted lectures and workshops on plein air painting and is currently writing a book. She recently founded the Professional Plein Air Painters.
