Pretoria born Peter Binsbergen received a Master's Degree in Fine Arts and
was selected as a finalist in last year's ABSA Bank Atelier Awards. This
accomplished and innovative artist is known throughout South Africa and has
also had his work exhibited in London and Finland.
Of his work, Peter says, My artworks encompasses South Africa - its people,
its cultural maze, its diverse fauna and flora, and its vast open spaces
which nurture our ever-changing landscapes. This is the melting pot from
which my art arises: multi-layered structures so intense that all sense of
time and space is lost. These structures never lead to a conclusion and an
'open-endedness' remains; a space for the viewer to fill with his own
interpretation and personal experience.
