"Eva Yeh: Sculpture in Paper"
2000-06-15 until 2000-09-30
University of Rhode Island, Fine Arts Center Galleries
Kingston, RI, USA United States of America

Yeh makes paper sculpture which is extremely distinctive. She uses many recycled paper products in her art which is typically composed of dense, multiple components or layers, always structured dynamically and full of bold visual surprise. Yeh's original training was in painting - first Chinese, then European - and all of her sculptures act potently to create and manipulate color.

Sculptures will be exhibiting her sculpture on the walls as well as the floor of the eccentrically shaped Main Gallery space. Illustrated brochure accompanies the exhibition. (Currently in development for debut in Kingston with subsequent travel anticipated to additional North American venues; this exhibition is generously sponsored in part by The Goethe-Institut, Boston.)

Eva Yeh, born in Shanghai, settled in Germany in 1974. She possesses a thoroughly international and certainly multicultural background and training, from a childhood in China to studies in the Fine Arts in Hong Kong, Paris and Nice prior to her now 20 plus years of life and work in Germany. The Main Gallery exhibition will be her first in the United States.
