"Art at Work: Forty Years of the Chase Manhattan Collection"
2000-05-23 until 2000-10-01
Queens Museum of Art
BROOKLYN, NY, USA

The Queens Museum of Art is proud to present Art at Work: Forty Years of the Chase Manhattan Collection. Some of the very best examples from this celebrated collection, gathered together for the first, and perhaps only time, will be on display from May 23 through October 1, 2000. Broad in scope, Chase's collection showcases works by the most distinguished artists of the modern era, from mid-century to the present. Assembled from Chase offices worldwide, including Japan, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, and Mexico, this unique cultural opportunity of a lifetime contains many pieces previously unseen in the United States.

This landmark exhibition will present a wondrous display of 120 contemporary masterpieces, including: a powerful thirty-eight foot mural by Sam Francis; a soaring mobile by Alexander Calder; and a landmark video installation by Nam June Paik. On view for the first time in the United States are works by Antoni Tapies, Gilbert & George, and Kenzo Okada, to name a few.

A virtual who's who of the international art world in the second half of the 20th Century, Art at Work will feature: Vito Acconci, Carl Andre, R. Artschwager, Milton Avery, Matthew Barney, J.M.
