"Boating on the Hudson: Navigating Through History"
2000-07-07 until 2000-01-07
Hudson River Museum
Yonkers, NY, USA

Gaze upon the crowded deck of an 18th-century sloop and the lavish interior of a 19th-century steamboat lobby. Try hoisting heavy canvas sails, turn the giant pilot wheel of a steamship, or row a model scull in the hands-on stations of Boating on the Hudson.

From Native American dugout canoes, to tugs and barges, this exhibition will examine the effect of boats on the social, cultural and economic development of the Hudson River Valley. Photographs, paintings, models, navigational instruments, schedules, log books and boat-making tools will convey the different eras of travel from the 16th century to present.
