2000-07-17 until 2000-09-01
FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL CENTER
Fort Worth, TX, USA United States of America

The Fort Worth International Center will present an exhibition titled Openings. The art show will feature two emerging painters, Meredith Davis and Jennifer Gassiraro, and a young photographer, T.J. Jemison.

Meredith Davis, a recent graduate of TCU, is passionate about painting, literature and travel. While at TCU she participated in summer-study programs in Hungary, Scotland ,and Mexico. Her highly expressive paintings address the construction of feminity. Davis says, My work is not so much about women themselves, but more of a critique of Western culture, our representations of female identity, intimate relations, sexuality and power.

Jennifer Gassiraro, a recent graduate of TCU, is an expressionist painter whose subject is the head. Gassiraro says concerning her work, The traditional media of painting, drawing and printmaking allows me to create works that have an energetic and physical presence.

T.J. Jemison is a young photographer whose work captures the contemporary lifestyle of youth culture notably the club scene.
