"Nathan Lyons: A Survey, 1957-2000"
2000-07-01 until 2000-10-01
George Eastman House
Rochester, NY,
USA United States of America
An exhibition displaying the photographic work of George
Eastman House's former associate director and curator of
photography and longtime Visual Studies Workshop
director will opened at the Museum on July 1.
Nathan Lyons: A Survey, 1957-2000 spans Lyons's
professional career, says exhibition curator Rick Hock,
director of creative services at the Museum. The exhibition
presents Lyon's early work, including the series Notations
in Passing (MIT Press, 1974), with his most recent series,
Riding 1st Class on the Titanic!(MIT Press, 1999).
Subtle and formally understated, Lyons's work is easily
accessible to the general visitor, explains Hock. His dry
sense of humor and insightful observations of our culture
provide an entertaining and engaging experience. A
complementary display will include material relating to his
time at George Eastman House, a bibliography of reviews
and articles, plus a selection of video clips.
