The first comprehensive survey of LeWitt's work since
1978, this retrospective presents more than 200 works
by this leading pioneer of conceptual art. It includes wall
drawings, large outdoor pieces, and works on paper,
photographs, and books from all phases of LeWitt's
four-decade career.
LeWitt's work strikes a delicate
balance between perceptual and conceptual qualities;
between dedication to the simplicity and order of
geometry and his pursuit of visual beauty and intuitive
creation; and between authorship and anonymity. Above
all, LeWitt's work exists in the space between the artist's
conception and the viewer's reception; it depends upon
