"Sporting Life"
2000-08-16 until 2000-11-13
Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney
Sydney, , AU Australia

Sporting Life is a major exhibition that explores the culture of sport within everyday life. Sport is woven into the complex fabric of our lives from childhood, through friends, family, neighbours and communities. Sporting culture in the modern world has many facets: competition, fair play, health, recreation, and has entered the world of politics and business. On display during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Sporting Life presents a fresh and challenging look at the intersection of art and sports culture today.

Sporting Life comprises three elements: a display of recent and newly commissioned works by contemporary Australian and international artists; an Aboriginal and Islander Hall of Fame; and a Trophy Room in which the people of Sydney are invited to display their 'personal best'.
