From early September through late November 2000, VideoCulture presents
a representative spectrum of this influential medium including installations,
exhibitions, and screenings of the work of nationally and internationally
renowned video artists. A national symposium, interactive projects and a
chance to view works by emerging artists add to the scope of this impressive
collaboration.
VideoCulture, a first of a kind collaboration, joins the forces of eleven
museums, galleries, and arts and educational organizations in the metro
Detroit area to examine video art and its impact on contemporary culture.
In its short 35-year history, video art has introduced a wide range of
themes, concepts and effects that have intersected broadcast TV, film,
photography, the internet, MTV and other media that explore and address
the world.
