Entries for the $10,000 art prize close on the 15th September. The prize is open to all artists practising in any art form. The aim of the prize is to encourage artists to comment on the theme of Evolution using mixed media. Mixed media may be a single artist using a variety of media in the creation of their art piece. Therefore it may be a painting that uses collage or photography or text and watercolour for example in a single work. It may also be that a single artist submits a work that uses a variety of media to express their ideas for example an artist may enter a video plus a song and a sculpture if those are integral parts of one work of art. Equally the entry may be the work of a collaboration of artists, in that a performer may work with a visual artist and a multimedia artist in the creation of a single work.

Entries will be assessed by a preselection panel from photos, slides, and detailed project proposals, videos, cd or audiotapes. Artists whose work is preselected will be contacted to submit the work at the festival and will be given a schedule for where their piece will be exhibited or in the case of performances, a timetable for their performance. The prize will be judged at the festival by a panel of judges and the winner announced at the closing of the festival on Sunday evening.
