"POP ART: PRINTS AND MULTIPLES FROM THE DIA COLLECTION"
2000-09-09 until 2000-12-31
Detroit Institute of Art
Detroit, MI, USA

Pop was hot and new in the early and mid-1960s. Young American artists such as Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg and their British colleagues David Hockney, Richard Hamilton and Eduardo Paolozzi delved into the world of everyday consumerism, advertising and mass media for their imagery.

By relying on humor, audacity, color and several new technologies, these artists redefined and broadened the spectrum of art. This exhibition surveys the accomplishments of Pop printmakers in approximately 100 works drawn exclusively from the DIA’s collection.
