"Joel Shapiro: Sculpture"
2000-10-01 until 2001-01-07
McNay Art Museum
San Antonio, TX, USA United States of America

The McNay Art Museum and the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina have joined forces to present this exhibition of Shapiro's complex, highly animated bronzes. This will be the first major outdoor sculpture exhibition presented at the McNay.

Curated by Martin Friedman, former director of the Walker Art Center, the exhibition features 17 objects ranging in height from five to 24 feet installed throughout the McNay's 23 acres of landscaped grounds. One of the sculptures will seemingly defy gravity as it dances along the façade of the museum.
