Photographer's Gallery
London, , UK

In 1960, John Hoppy Hopkins launched his photographic career in London, capturing The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Marianne Faithfull on the first wave of stardom. Simultaneously, his great passion for jazz prompted his atmospheric images of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk and Louis Armstrong.

Later, Hoppy documented peace marches, poetry readings with a naked Allen Ginsberg, and photographed twentieth century icons such as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X.
