"About Face: The Portraits Turn"
2000-10-06 until 2000-12-13
Columbus College of Art and Design
Columbus, OH,
USA United States of America
Dedicated to artworks that create the effect of a persona (such
as portraits and masks), About Face will incorporate assumed
identities, representations of personality, states of mind, and
alter egos. Works from museums and private collections in a
variety of media—including sculpture, photography, relief,
painting, and drawing—will be included.
For the first time at a CCAD exhibit opening, guests will be able
to participate in interactive activities. Activities will be geared
around demonstrating how changes in the face may change an
individual's persona. Guests may have a photo of their face
scanned into a special computer that will demonstrate how a
different nose, a small lift, or other degrees of cosmetic surgery
will change their appearance, or have a caricature drawn for
them by CCAD student Joseph Brooks. Also, make-up artists from
Marshall Field's will be on site to provide instructional tips on how
to use various cosmetic products to enhance or alter one's face.
