USEby: Asia Pacific Initiatives Project inauguarates a series of international
exhibitions and events that explore the burgeoning phenomenon of artist-run and
independent projects throughout the Asia Pacific region. Curated by Tessa Dwyer and
Sarah Tutton, the USEby exhibition will represent the dynamic, unstable and transitory
nature of contemporary art-making across diverse geographical and institutional
zones.
Involvong artists from Bangkok, Christchurch, Hong Kong, Manilla, Melbourne,
Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. USEby celebrates the way in which practical and
social limitations function as creative tools, producing their own innovative and
compelling aesthetic.
Artists included in this project are Ringo Bunoan (The Philippines), Mira Gojak (Australia), Alexander Knox (Australia),
Lim Tzay Chen (Singapore), Command N (Japan), Namdee Publishing (Thailand), Nuts
Society (Thailand), Kata Sangkhae (Thailand), Sanjot Kaur Sekhon (Singapore), Michael
Shaowanasai (Thailand), Tim Silver (Australia), Christian Thompason (Australia),
Julaine Stephenson (New Zealand), Kacey Wong (China), Ye Shufang (Singapore)
200 Gertrude Street and Centre for Contemporary Photography in association with the
Melbourne Festival.
