exhibition will survey Ruscha's
paintings, drawings, and books from
1960 to the present. One of the most
consistently inventive artists of the contemporary period, Ruscha has
been a pioneer in the use of language and imagery drawn from the
popular media.
The show will consist of approximately sixty paintings,
twenty-five drawings, and several books
This exhibition is coordinated by Manilow Senior Curator Francesco Bonami.
This exhibition has been organized by the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Smithsonian
Institution, Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford, England. Major support
for the exhibition has been provided by The Henry Luce Foundation with additional support from
