"OUT OF AFRICA: Sub-Saharan Traditional Arts"
2000-12-16 until 2001-03-04
Dayton Art Institute
Dayton, OH,
USA
OUT OF AFRICA will be the first opportunity in many decades to showcase the
important and high-quality works of African art collected by local and
regional individuals. World-renowned expert on African art, Dr. Roy Sieber
of Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana), will serve as the guest
curator for this Dayton Art Institute organized exhibition.
OUT OF AFRICA
will not only demonstrate the amazingly powerful and beautiful aesthetic
qualities of African art, but will set these objects in their proper
context, affording the visitor a new view of some of the most vital and
compelling works created during the last two centuries. Presented by
Fifth Third Bank with special gifts from the Robert S. and Grayce B. Kerr
Foundation and Dianne Komminsk.
