"LIGHT  x  EIGHT: THE HANUKKAH PROJECT 2000"
2000-12-10 until 2001-01-28
Jewish Museum
New York, NY, USA United States of America

The Museum celebrates the eight-day festival of Hanukkah by exhibiting eight works of contemporary art that use light as both medium and metaphor. The art works are purposely displayed in non-traditional sites within the Museum and feature the work of living artists such as Angela Bulloch, Rico Gatson, Lyn Godley, Anish Kapoor, Micah Lexier, Matthew McCaslin, Catherine Yass and Jeff Zilm.

As a holiday commemorating the indomitable nature of light and spirit, Hanukkah is a fitting occasion to show works that represent light's mystical qualities.  Light x Eight will remain on view though January 29, 2001.

Hanukkah beings at sundown on December 21 and ends at sundown on December 29.
